A call for all to come celebrate with us as Their Excellencies, Baroness Katheline and Baron Ryan, hold their final Court of a most memorable reign. Then, join us as we invest the next Baroness and Baron of SunDragon. We remind the valiant warriors of the Kingdom of Atenveldt, Estrella War is behind us, Heroes never rest, let us get back to what we love to do most; it is time to fight yet another day. The Barony of SunDragon is having our annual Mixed Weapons War and we ask you to come and enjoy our spotlight event. There will be Armored Combat, Rapier, Youth combat, Archery and Equestrian Activities! On Sunday morning our annual Kon Hawke Fund Raiser Auction and Tournament will be conducted. Funds raised go to support local nonprofit theater groups.
Their Excellencies, Katheline and Ryan invite all of you to join them at their final court on Friday evening, March 14th at 6:30PM. This will be Their Excellencies’ Dessert Court (as dessert is the final course, it seems only fitting to have dessert at their final court). Desserts will be served so please bring plates and your appetites. Any and all who wish to contribute desserts are encouraged to do so. It will be an evening to remember.
At 10:30AM, in the early light of the Aten Sun, on Saturday March 15th Their Glorious Majesties of Atenveldt, King Eduard and Queen Asa will conduct the Investiture of Lord Robert Aongus and Lady Theresa to Baron and Baroness of our magnificent Barony. Then, after a long day of fighting and riding, Their Excellencies Theresa and Robert Aonghus invite you to an evening of more fun. There will be a feast by Lady Jacquelin de Normandie. There will surely be Bardic. And there will be more fighting with the annual Jugger Tourney.
Please join us on March 14th-16th at Empty Acres Equine Resort, a grand site in the Barony of SunDragon. Horse stabling is available at the site. Please call the Equestrian Coordinator for more details or the site at 623-691-6900.
Site will open at 2 pm on Friday and closes on Sunday at 8 pm. Site fee is $12.00 for adults and kids under 18 are FREE!!! As always there will be a $3.00 surcharge for nonmembers. Feast fee is $7.00. Both site fee and feast fee are payable in advance on the ACCEPS web site: (http://acceps.ansteorra.org/regit/event_main.php).
It is strongly encouraged due to the popularity of this event that you take advantage of the advance payment system through ACCEPS. There is a $1 per transaction fee and you will need a debit or credit card to make your reservation. THE DEADLINE FOR ACCEPS REGISTRATION IS MARCH 10TH! After that date you can only pay by cash or check made out to: Barony of SunDragon, SCA Inc. at the event.
The site, Empty Acres Equine Resort is in Buckeye, AZ 10300 South Miller Road. This is private property within the city limits of Buckeye AZ. To get there take Interstate 10 west to Miller Road (exit 114). This is about 6 miles west of the Estrella Parkway exit. Go south on Miller Road approximately 6.5 miles. If you journey from Kingdom lands south of Granholme or from Burning Sands take State Route 85 north out of Gila Bend. From State Route 85, take Hazen Road (approximately three miles south of Buckeye) east for approximately 1.8 miles to South Miller Road. Empty Acres is located on the southwest corner of Hazen and Miller roads.
The Site is wet, no glass containers, and pets must be on leashes. SCA curfew rules will be enforced. There is plenty of grass for ALL activities and camping. Above ground fire pits must be a minimum of 12 inches above ground and a ground shield is required. For more on the site go to www.emptyacres.com
