Library Rules and Book Requests
All books in the SunDragon Library are available for check-out to members of the Barony of SunDragon free of charge, with a maximum of 10 items borrowed by any one individual at any one time. Members of the SCA outside of the Barony may check-out books from the Library only upon receiving special permission from the SunDragon Librarian, the SunDragon Minister of Arts and Sciences, or the Baron[ess] of SunDragon; this special permission is also required to borrow more than 10 items at one time.
All loans are for a period of 1 month. If at the end of that time no one has requested that publication, the loan can be extended for another month. A loan can be extended twice via email/voicemail request; in order to extend the loan further a visual inspection of the publication must be made by the librarian, to ensure that the material is still in good condition and has not been ‘misplaced’.
To check-out a book from the SunDragon Library, simply use the link at the bottom of this page to request a book. Include in your email the genre and title of the publication you wish, as well as your contact information (persona/mundane name, phone number, and email). You will be contacted by the library staff regarding the status of that publication and [if it is available] when it can be released to you.
Some general, unofficial comments from the librarian:
- If you borrow a book and it is destroyed while in your possession, you are expected to make every effort to replace that specific material. If you have difficulty doing so, please let me know: I have a pretty decent knowledge of book sources, and will happily assist you in locating a suitable replacement item. If you are simply unable to locate an item that you have checked-out at the end of the 3 month period, you will also be expected to replace it; should it turn up later, you now have your very own copy! As an addendum to this, if a book in your care is damaged or misplaced, please let me know right up front; I’m a pretty reasonable guy, and am willing to work with you.
- If I do not personally recognize you as a member of the barony when you request to borrow a book, please do not take offense when I query you for more information. Just realize that I am doing my best to ensure that I am not handing out baronial books to some stranger who located this site online.
Clicking the ‘Request a Book’ link below indicates that you have read, understood, and agreed with the above rules.
